A Rustic and Cozy Reclaimed Cabin

Get ready to swoon over this gorgeous lakefront cabin out in Northwest Montana! This cabin is the perfect blend of cozy, rustic, and refined - with reclaimed wood galore and a bright & simple approach to decor.

Dakota Timber Co. provided a ton of material for the home, from the exterior siding and beams to the flooring, trims, ceiling, and mantels inside. This cabin is a perfect example of the many ways that you can utilize wood in your home, from functional applications like flooring & beam work to decorative applications like paneling, trim, and even furniture.

Cozy Reclaimed Wood Cabin

The  exterior of the cabin utilized our reclaimed exterior siding in a reverse board & batten style. The combination of reclaimed pine & fir boards creates a lot of visual interest and the material will continue to gain character over time.

Reverse board & batten reclaimed siding gives the exterior of the cabin a warm & rustic feel - perfect for it's lakeside location amongst the beautiful tamaracks of Northwestern Montana!

Reclaimed exterior siding pairs perfectly with corten accents. The steel will slowly rust over time complimenting the tones of the wood and making the exterior of this garage fit right into it's natural environment.

We were so excited to provide reclaimed exterior material for this home. As much as we love providing interior materials like reclaimed paneling, shelves, and mantels we are passionate about functional sustainable materials. Reclaimed wood siding can completely change the entire feel of an otherwise simple design. Could you imagine this home covered in vinyl siding?

Adding reclaimed trim to interior doors & windows is a simple way to make your space unique or tie in material from an accent wall or ceiling. This trim compliments the material that was used for the ceiling in the main room of the house.

We love that this homeowner did not shy away from mixing wood tones. When it comes to natural patina reclaimed wood you can easily mix and match with other wood tones as the material has such a variety of color tones in it.

Our favorite room in the cabin is the main room which features warm reclaimed wood flooring, beautiful rugs, a cozy couch with plenty of pretty pillows and the most amazing fireplace we have ever seen.

The ceiling in this room utilizes exposed beams and reclaimed paneling provided by Dakota Timber Co. The fireplace mantel was custom built in a box-beam style (as opposed to a solid beam) and the homebuilder did an incredible job down to every detail.

Exposed beams and reclaimed paneling make this ceiling the focus of the room. The black light fixtures give the whole room the true feeling of a mountain cabin.

White walls and white accepts like kitchen cabinets, rugs, and bedding keep this small cabin feeling open and bright. Windows also help bring in natural light and on cloudy days carefully chosen fixtures brighten the space.

Simple white bedding and consistent black accents like the bed frame, lamp, and curtain rod give the rooms a consistent look.

We are still blown away by the finished cabin. It's refreshing to see a project that utilizes reclaimed wood in so many different ways. We loved being able to be a one-stop supplier for such a variety of materials and hope that you've been inspired by this project.

We love that our material has made it all the way to Montana but would be thrilled to see more cabins like this in our local community and in the lakes area of MN. If you or someone you know is in the planning process of a new home or lake palce- it's the perfect time to consider your materials! Could you incorporate some reclaimed siding? Maybe use genuine reclaimed exterior beams instead of new timbers or box beams? We would love to help you throughout the process and show you that reclaimed wood can be so much more than accent paneling!
